"The Possessed (Volume II)" is Rubidium Rings's 8th full-length album that along with volume one, flips the script of their traditional works. Made during the not-so-harsh California & Indiana winter of 2022, RR expanded onto the story of the first album with a 21-track journey through the fictional universe's past & present. Almost double volume one's length, volume two brings a more upbeat electro sound throughout, but some tracks like "Overgrown" & "Sentinels" display the traditional minimalist ambience that RR excels at. For the first time, the album features vocals by Emerson Holland & Adrian Maxsen who add voices to the characters of Vira & Caden.
"Working with vocalists is a new prospect that I originally didn't intend to have in the album, but during the end of the album's production, I wanted Emerson to say a short line for the beginning of "The Cross" as a kind of introduction to the past's downfall and present's beginning. And eventually, Emerson & I worked on a few more songs along with my friend Adrian to bring the world closer to the listener." - RR
